About Me
As a fan of anything by Fujishima Kosuke, I certainly do recommend his You're Under Arrest series. Based on a short manga series written before his longer Aa! Megami-sama (Oh My Goddess!) but animated afterward, it goes deeper than the other anime series in that it was picked up for a full TV run to continue the hijinks portrayed in the OVA's (a fate that didn't happen with Goddess).
Story Intro
Katsumi rushes along the streets on her way to work; a passing train made her late on her first day. Breaking all sorts of traffic laws on her scooter, she finds herself followed by a police woman who's just as capable of navigating side alleys and shortcuts. Yet this traffic officer puts the infractions aside and welcomes her to the department; Miyuki is assigned as her new partner in the traffic police.
You're Under Arrest is a fun romp through various traffic-law scenarios (reckless driving during a typhoon, clearing a traffic jam, etc.) mixed with romantic comedy and buddy (Miyuki and Katsumi) stories. The TV series starts where the videos ended (even starting with episode "5"), with the arrival of a new female officer, Aoi, who is a bit more than she -- or rather, he -- appears.
Other Notes
Like so many other series, the artistic detail takes a bit of a dive after switching from OVA (video) to TV (broadcast), so watching the first few episodes in a long (more than 4) multiple episode session can be jarring.
