About Me

A sweeping adventure of two youths in search of a legend, Miyazaki Hayao's Laputa: Castle in the Sky could easily be a classic on this side of the Pacific if the licensed distributor (currently Disney) would get around to letting us see it here. Until then, however, this is the realm of either fantasy or imported videos (I took the latter route for now).
Story Intro
A young girl named Sheeta falls from a battle-ridden airplane, plunging toward the ground, but her "levistone" pendant glows brightly and slows her descent. Seeing a bright light drop from the sky, a young miner named Pazu rushes to see the cause and realizes it's a person. He "rescues" the floating girl and begins a quest with her to find the source of the stone's power -- the floating island Laputa mentioned in Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels -- and escape from others hunting the stone for their own uses.
Other Notes
Due to an unfortuante meaning of the original title in Spanish, we will most likely see this distributed here in the US only as "Castle in the Sky".
Semi-Official news and images can be found in English at the fan site Nausicaa.Net. The true home for all Studio Ghibli work is (in Japanese) Studio Ghibli Homepage.
