Kiki's Delivery Service

kiki_dvd.jpg

Long before Harry Potter came on the scene, another children's book came to life with a young girl leaving home to make a name for herself knowing only one magical skill -- flying on a broom. Hayao Miyazaki's animated film of Kiki's Delivery Service has become a bona fide classic.

Story Intro

Since all witches must leave home at 13 to live on their own for one year, Kiki decides when she hears a positive weather forecast to leave right away instead of waiting an extra month or more. Using her mother's old broom, she flies off toward the south to find a town by the sea. City life is quite different from the rural towns she grew up in, though, but luckily she stumbles across something she can do with her one trained skill of flying; she can use it to deliver packages across town, meeting new people along the way.

But what will she do when that skill starts fading away?
